PASSING THE TORCH. . .

Some 60 years ago Pastor H.O. Kneeland Jr. was called to serve a congregation that was worshipping in a building that was literally in the ground on the corner of Gill and Rozelle.  But that was a working congregation, with a strong pastor. He was a groundbreaking, pace setting, innovative, courageous pastor. He was a man of faith and a trendsetter who loved God and was afraid of nothing and no one.

After 60 years of diligent service, on September 22, 2019, history was made with the installation of Minister Keith LaMount Robinson I, as the new pastor of The Union Valley Baptist Church. Pastor Kneeland graciously stepped into his new role as Pastor Emeritus.

Now, 60 years later, by the Grace of God and with the help of the Holy Spirit, Pastor Emeritus Kneeland has laid a strong foundation for Pastor Robinson to build on.

Of course Pastor Robinson hasn’t walked with God as long as Pastor Emeritus Kneeland. Pastor Robinson is a young man. And the Bible teaches us that older men are for council and younger men are for war. That’s the difference between a Pastor Emeritus and a Pastor Elect. The word Emeritus is a Latin word meaning “veteran soldier.” Pastor Emeritus Kneeland is certainly a veteran soldier that has served honorably. And has laid a solid foundation for Pastor Robinson to build on.
